   I’m impressed with the design and quality of the materials. All five boxes arrived with no visible outside damage. One panel one the inner side of the base was split but I was able to apply gorilla glue and attached the cube side extension that had bolts on both side of that board holding it securely flat so it wasn’t a problem. Took me about four hours to unpack and assemble alone. We’re very happy with it.

   The instructions are a little complicated to understand. The mattress that comes with the set is firm and needs a topper when using. The murphy beds is a very nice peice of furniture.

   So far, so good. I was missing a box after I started putting this together. I notified the company and it arrived the next morning. I think the delivery person just forgot it on the truck with original delivery. This is a very heavy and sturdy piece. I had fun putting it together. I felt satisfied I could do it without help. It slept well. A little firm, but mostly for my grandkids, so they are fine with it. I would highly recommend this. There were a couple of dings, but not worth replacing. I just used a little coverup pen.

   We’ve now had this bed for 5 years and it still looks great. We use it about 2 dozen times a year and couldn’t be happier. It’s very easy to open and our guests have said the mattress is very comfortable. The only negative is the extreme weight when you first get it.

   The bed came quickly and I was very excited to put together. Very, very heavy and I could not get the 5 boxes into my home without help. Thought I’d be able to put together myself, but nope. After receiving 2 of the same boxes and missing the correct 1 I had to contact the company and work out what I needed. They did handle the issue quickly. Trying to put together and I couldn’t figure out the drawer. I had to get a friend to help me and he figured out the problem. The track to slide the drawer was installed incorrectly. It was difficult to get to the screws to get it off. He figured a way to address it. After that it went pretty smooth. There are several flaws in the finish and the back panel was cracked. The crack won’t show so I decided to just keep it and the flaws on the finish I also decided not to make a fuss. I just used a stain pen on those areas. So for all the back and forth with the company and the error with the drawer it’s 3 stars

   So the product arrived in non damaged boxes and and after reading the instructions I figured 2 hours max to assemble at a moderate pace. Boy I couldn’t have been more wrong. I opened the box and immediately saw the front drawer piece cracked and a screw not entirely set in to hold it, so I’m assuming they knew about this at the factory and still shipped it as there was no damage to the box. The brace in the back was incorrectly cut, as the groove depths were 1/8 inch on one end and 3/8 inch on the other. It’s not 100% wood as the back pieces are particle board, these were bubbled out as they must have gotten wet at the manufacturer and of course would not fit into the incorrectly cut grooves in the brace or other pieces. I had to router out the back brace and make slightly wider to ensure the bubble out particle board would fit. Luckily I had a router, otherwise it would still be sitting in pieces on the floor. So I go to put on the top piece and it would not lay flush, so I had to router the back brace another 1/8 inch deeper to get it to sit correctly. The top piece on the front also had paint imperfections which were very noticeable. So now I’m 3.5 hours in and should have been had this finished an hour ago, but no there’s more. The countersinks for the handle screws depth were incorrectly drilled. So out comes the drill and I had to manually drill each one so that the handle screws would actually extrude from the other side instead of sitting flush or slightly recessed. In the end, i probably spent 4-5 hours on something that could have been finished in less than 2 easily. I now have to order replacement parts and disassemble and reassemble so there is another hour or so. NO ONE should have to do any of this when you pay almost $1400 for an item. It could be a great piece, but in reading some of the other reviews, it’s a crap shoot what your getting in your box. I’ll update this after I order the replacement parts. We’ll see how that process goes. Adding to the SAGA: Atlantic Furniture won’t do anything for you even with the bright reddish orange paper saying to contact them first. They told me to contact Amazon and deal with them. They definitely do not stand behind their product. Anyways, Amazon addressed and I am pleased with their response. Buyer Beware.

   We were very nervous about buying a Murphy bed that we had to put together. We had read many reviews about other Murphy beds coming damaged and the instructions were difficult to follow. The boxes did have some dings in them, but the pieces were so well packed that there was not any damage to the bed itself. It did come in 5 boxes and they weren’t labeled as to which one had the instructions, so we did have to open all the boxes before we could start. We had a “handyman” put it together for us and it took him about 2.5 hours. He thought the directions were confusing at times, but on the whole he thought it went really well. We have not slept on the mattress yet and we are considering adding a foam topper for more comfort, but haven’t decided yet. We would highly recommend this product. It is beautiful and well built.
