Cheech –
I can honestly say it’s the best decision I made. It’s beautiful, lots of space saver, I place my old twin mattress on top. Because the mattress it comes slightly off the base. Extra mattress adds the comfort and security.
Thanks to the maker.

I can say only good things about this product. The packing was superior. Not one nick was found on any piece of this bed when opened. Our Grandsons had this bed put together and ready to use in about 2 hours. Nothing was missing and lots of hardware was duplicated. The directions were easy to follow, and all the tools needed were included. The only little blip was the too small eye bolts to use as earthquake anchors from bed to wall. I believe the bed, in cabinet mode, is too heavy and short to tip. We would not consider anchoring this bed to the wall. The mattress is sufficient for a comfortable sleep but I bought an extra topper so my sheets would fit better. All in all, I am very happy with my purchase.

The good:
The construction is quite solid. The look is beautiful, and if put together properly it feels very sturdy. I love the ease of pulling it out and setting up the bed, and the smaller footprint when you close the whole thing back up. It’s an attractive piece of furniture, solidly built.
The not-so-good:
Putting it together was more difficult than it needed to be. There were no instructions included (although I think this was a factory mistake; not sure) so we had to take apart every box and look in every nook and cranny hoping to find written directions. When we came up empty-handed, we went online to various locations, including YouTube, hoping to find something there. Finally came upon an instruction book that we could download, but it was only available for the twin size, and we had a queen, and the instructions differ in key points.
We tried to call the manufacturer’s customer service dept., but got a recording. We sent an email and we received an impressively prompt reply, that included a downloadable pdf file for the instructions. Now we were in business!
A couple of the holes weren’t drilled in areas where they were supposed to be, so hubby had to drag out his power tools just as we thought we were nearing the finish line. Luckily, he had a power drill, so be aware that you may have that issue come up.
It took the two of us about 7.5 hours to get the thing together. HOWEVER, we’re not exactly spring chickens anymore, and we each have our own set of joint and other limitations. Had it been 20 years ago, we probably could have put it together in 3 or 4 hours, to be fair. It would have been even less had we been given the instructions in the boxes and had we not needed to drill holes.
The pretty bad:
Biggest complaint, though, were the several blemishes on the face of the unit, which is the most important piece! There areas where the finish was rough; and areas where paint was not applied; and areas where the sheen had been rubbed/scratched off. We wrote the company to request touch-up paint because we really didn’t want to go through the entire process again, and figured we could just touch it up because overall we really do love the piece.
They again responded promptly and sent us a furniture touch-up pen and a piece of sandpaper. lol. The pen is good, but the sandpaper is really too rough to be helpful. Still, they sent it via FedEx at their expense and they were very prompt (again) in doing so. We probably have a finer sandpaper hanging around somewhere and if we don’t, we can go get that. Not a big problem.
Another complaint is that the mattress leaves a LOT to be desired. It’s not much more than an over-sized maxi-pad, to be honest. I would have preferred that they just omit the mattress entirely and take $200 off the price, and I’d just get my own mattress.
As it is, I intend to swap this thing out, either by getting a sturdy high-density tri-fold mattress of at least 4″ thickness to lay under this thing, or just see if I can find a much better 6″ tri-fold mattress and skip this one entirely. If I use two, I’ll need to also get a storage bag for the under-mattress and store that in the closet because it won’t fit in the cabinet with the mattress that came with the unit. So, be prepared to make adjustments to the mattress if anyone heavier than an average-sized 10 year old child will be sleeping on it.
The very good:
The customer service gets 5 stars for promptness and courtesy, but don’t bother trying to call. Email them. Very prompt responses.
BOTTOM LINE: I’d give this 5 stars had it not been for the multiple blemishes on the face of the unit, the woefully inadequate mattress and the lack of instructions in the box. It’s a solid unit and very pretty. You don’t get a “cheap” feeling to it the way you do with some pieces of furniture. I would buy it again, but I think I’d do a lot of looking around to see if I could find it WITHOUT the mattress and with a lower price that reflects the absence of a mattress.
